She may be just nine years of age, though Victory Brinker is already living up to her name.
The precocious singer stepping into the bright lights of America’s Got Talent on Tuesday night (July 6), and blew everyone away everyone in the room.
Hailing from Pennsylvania, Brinker was clearly nervous (and excited, she explained) at the top in her chat with the four judges. All that changed when she began to sing.
Brinker hit the operatic number “Juliet’s Waltz,” from Romeo et Juliette, complete with high notes. “I was not expecting that,” said Howie Mandel. “You’re angelic. I loved it.”
Sofia Vergara chimed in, “You are a star. You have a powerful voice.”
Cowell paid tribute to her performance and bravery, and in a nerve-shredding moment he called a meeting with his fellow judges and host Terry Crews. “We’re not going to give you a ‘yes’ today,” he explained. Instead, they all gave her something that had never been done before: a five-person Golden Buzzer.
Earlier, Cowell asked Victory what would she do if she won the competition? “Buy Simon a rainbow shirt that has some glitter on it,” was her quirky response. “You need some color.”
Simon had better make space in his wardrobe.
