“You Don’t Own the Game”: Players Blocked From Playing Anthem One Last Time as Servers Shut Down Early

The saga of this live-service title is steadily approaching its final chapter.

Anthem’s servers were originally slated to remain operational until January 13, 2026. However, as players began returning for one last flight, they encountered a significant technical hurdle.

It appears the sunsetting process may have begun prematurely. Users attempting to download the game this January are being met with an error message, preventing legitimate owners from accessing the software they already paid for:

“You do not have access. Your download has been canceled because you do not own this game. Please visit the Game Hub to purchase this title if you wish to play.”

Anthem Download Error

Since Anthem does not feature an offline mode, it will become entirely unplayable for all consumers once the servers are officially deactivated.
