Yoko Ono Designs “SKY” Mosaic for New York’s 72nd St Subway Stop

Yoko Ono has designed a collection of ceramic mosaics for New York City’s 72nd St subway cease, the MTA introduced. The newly reopened cease holds particular significance to Ono, because it’s proper by the Dakota—the famed constructing the place she has lived for the reason that ’70s—and Central Park’s Strawberry Fields part. Her set up options six separate mosaics and spans 973 sq. toes altogether. Check out photographs beneath.

“I’m thrilled that my new work, ‘SKY,’ will be opening at the 72 St subway station just steps from my home and Strawberry Fields, which I created in memory of my late husband,” Ono mentioned in a press release. “It will bring the sky underground, so it’s always with us. I hope this will bring peace and joy to my fellow New Yorkers for many years to come.”
