Xbox, PlayStation, or PC: Analysts Calculated Who Spends More Time Gaming

Data from Ampere Games Analytics show that Xbox users launch a wider variety of games each month than PlayStation or PC players.

In August 2025, Xbox owners played an average of 5.7 different titles, compared with 4.5 on Steam and just 3.7 on PlayStation — roughly 35% fewer than on Xbox.

The main reason for the disparity is the Game Pass subscription, which most Xbox players use. In August 2025 the Game Pass library contained more than 500 available games. Even though PlayStation Plus Premium offers nearly 1,000 titles, Xbox users appear to explore the available catalog more actively.

However, a greater number of titles does not mean more time spent playing. In August the average playtime was 7.7 hours for Xbox owners, while PlayStation users averaged 12.7 hours and Steam users 11.9 hours.
