While Fans Waited for Half-Life 3, an Enthusiast Released a Six‑Chapter Campaign for the Original Half‑Life
While fans wait for the franchise’s next installment, some have taken it upon themselves to create new content.
In November, fans once again renewed calls for a “Half-Life 3” announcement. Against that backdrop, modder MPS has released a new campaign for the original shooter.
Half-Life: Insecure features six chapters, several new enemy types, and weapons drawn from Opposing Force:
Relive the events of the Black Mesa incident as security officer Andrew Cooper. Locked inside the facility after the resonance cascade, your main objective is to escape — to survive before the situation worsens.
The Half-Life: Insecure mod is distributed free on ModDB. The developer reports a playtime of roughly four hours on Hard difficulty.
This mod is built for current versions of Half-Life and Windows, so it is incompatible with Half-Life: Source, Xash3D, and retail CD releases. It may run on Linux under Proton, but that has not been tested. Windows 7 or later is required; older Windows versions can cause a fatal error.
