Doja Cat and fan Pablo Tamayo have put their spat behind them, reuniting onstage at Outside Lands nearly two months after the rapper publicly rebuked him for overstepping her personal boundaries during their first encounter.
In a series of TikTok clips shared by Tamayo, the festival headliner personally invited him backstage and then brought him up onstage as a VIP guest during her Outside Lands performance. In one video, he chronicles his journey to San Francisco and the moment a member of Doja’s team led him to the stage so they could reconcile before the crowd. Watch the clip here.
Backstage footage shows Tamayo beaming next to Doja as they catch up. He shyly asks, “How do I smell?” and she playfully replies, “You smell amazing.” Embarrassed, he admits, “I now know your name is Ami,” referring to her real name, Amala Dlamini. Doja laughs it off: “That’s fine. You didn’t need to know.”
The cordial exchange marks a stark contrast to their tense first meeting in June, where Tamayo hugged Doja, kissed her cheek and even offered her his shirt—actions she later decried in deleted posts on X. “Don’t touch me and manhandle me when you don’t even f—king know me,” she wrote at the time, adding, “I threw that musty a– shirt away, by the way.”
In a follow-up backstage video, Tamayo quips to Doja about the discarded shirt. She shrugs and mutters, “I don’t know…” before walking off camera. He reassures fans they’ve moved past the incident: “Guys, don’t worry—we’re cool now, @DojaCat.”
With their misunderstanding resolved, Doja is now focused on her next chapter. She’s finished recording her forthcoming album, Vie, which she promises will showcase a more pop-driven sound than 2023’s Scarlet, though an official release date has yet to be announced.
Shortly after Tamayo’s reunion videos surfaced, she summed up her new outlook on X: “It feels good to be kind. It hurts to not.”
