BTS kicked their style up another notch on Wednesday (July 7) when they walked in a fashion show. And it wasn’t just any fashion show — the septet walked in a film for Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Fall-Winter 2021 collection by Virgil Abloh.
In the film directed by Jeon Go-woon and Park Sye-young, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook mysteriously make their way through the various levels of a sparse concrete building as a white blimp with the word “hope” written in red floats around the building. Each member wears one look from the collection.
According to the film’s YouTube description, the collection was presented at an art and culture space called Art Bunker B39 just outside Seoul. As for the looks themselves, the description explains, “The collection re-appropriates the normal through extreme elevation.”
“Seoul has such unique energy and BTS embody this vibe completely,” Abloh, the men’s artistic director for Vuitton, told WWD. “They add their spin to the collection, make it their own, and take it to new heights.”
BTS became ambassadors for the brand in April. The group said in a statement at the time: “Becoming global brand ambassadors for Louis Vuitton is a truly exciting moment for us. We are excited for our upcoming projects with Virgil Abloh.”
Modeling for the high-end French fashion house is just another feather in the cap for BTS this week. The global superstars’ latest single, “Butter,” topped the Billboard Hot 100 for the sixth week. And on Friday (July 9), their collaboration with Ed Sheeran — “Permission to Dance” — arrives as part of the “Butter” CD single.
