Vince Neil Details Christmas Night Stroke and Long Rehab Ahead of Las Vegas Residency

By Billboard Staff

Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil says he suffered a stroke while sleeping on Christmas night and woke up
the following morning unable to stand. In a recent interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Neil said,
“My whole left side went out,” describing the shock of discovering how suddenly his mobility was affected.

According to Neil, the medical episode was the reason the band postponed its March 28–April 19 residency at
Dolby Live at Park MGM; a statement issued March 4 had only noted that the singer “required medical
procedure.” The band also withdrew from a scheduled appearance at Maryland’s Boardwalk Rock festival in May.

Neil recalled the earliest days of recovery as bleak. He told the Review-Journal that at one point he could not
walk to the bathroom on his own and had to be carried. Gradually he progressed from a wheelchair to a walker
and then to a cane. “I had to learn to walk again, and that was tough,” he said, adding that doctors initially
doubted he would return to the stage. He resolved to prove them wrong: “No, no, I’m gonna do it. Watch and see.”

The singer, who did not lose his voice during the episode, spent months undergoing intensive physical therapy
at his home in Nashville. He reports continuing improvements and says he no longer relies on assistive devices,
though ongoing rehabilitation remains part of his routine. “It’s like a full-time job getting back to where you
feel good again,” Neil said.

Mötley Crüe’s Las Vegas residency is scheduled to begin on Friday, September 12, 2025, and run through
Friday, October 3, 2025. For more on Neil’s recovery and the full interview, see the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
