Valve quietly changes Steam Machine specs — 4K/60 FPS no longer mentioned

Valve quietly removed the 4K/60 FPS performance promise from the Steam Machine specifications, leaving only a reference to 4K support via FSR 4.1.

Valve markets the Steam Machine as a hybrid between a PC and a console, but the device appears unable to guarantee 4K gaming at 60 FPS. The company updated the technical description on its website without an announcement. The new specifications omit the frame rate target while retaining the mention of AMD FSR 4.1 for 4K scaling.

The initial marketing highlighted the ability to run Steam games at 4K resolution and 60 FPS using AMD upscaling technology. This performance capability served as a primary justification for the device’s high price point.

The official product page now lists only 4K support through FSR 4.1. Valve deleted all references to the 60 FPS goal without providing further explanation.
