Valve lets Steam users check if Secure Boot and TPM are enabled on their PCs

Secure Boot has recently become highly sought-after in online gaming, and Valve has taken steps to make users more aware of it.

Recently, Valve not only rolled out a major update to the main Steam client featuring a redesigned interface, but also began experimenting with a new feature that inspects a player’s system.

In the Steam beta client, the system information section now shows whether Secure Boot and TPM are enabled.

To view this, open: “Help” → “System Information” and scroll down to the “OS Version” area.

Some developers have started using these measures to deter cheaters — for example, Secure Boot will be required for Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. For many in the gaming community, the existence of these technologies has come as a revelation.
