Universal Has Earned $5 Billion This Year

Universal Pictures has officially become the first major studio of 2026 to surpass the $5 billion global box office milestone, according to industry reports.

The studio generated $1.788 billion domestically in the U.S., complemented by an impressive $3.218 billion from international markets. This achievement marks the third time the company has crossed this financial threshold, following successful runs in 2015 and 2017.

Key contributors to Universal’s 2026 success include Christopher Nolan’s “Odyssey,” the animated hits “Super Mario: Galactic Movie” and “Minions and Monsters,” as well as the biopic “Michael” and the horror feature “Obsession.” While the latter two titles were released by different studios domestically, Universal served as their international distributor.

Looking ahead, Universal’s year-end slate features highly anticipated titles such as “Meet the Fockers 4” and Robert Eggers’ “The Wolf Man,” among others.
