A cinematic view of the castle in Assassin's Creed Shadows

Ubisoft’s samurai-themed RPG earned generally positive marks in 2025, though it certainly sparked its share of online debate. Perhaps you’ve grown weary of the franchise’s stealth-parkour formula, or maybe you’re simply the type of gamer who prefers to wait for a significant price drop before diving in. Regardless of why you previously passed on Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you no longer have an excuse to skip it.

Ubisoft is offering everyone a risk-free opportunity to form their own opinion. From June 18 through June 23, the publisher is granting free access to Ubisoft Premium. This trial provides full access to their extensive library of recent titles, including all associated DLC. It’s an ideal window to experience the latest updates firsthand.

A recent update just added a fresh story quest along with an array of new weaponry, gear, and cosmetic items. Furthermore, the newly introduced “Domains” mode features five distinct combat and survival simulations. Clearing these challenges nets you powerful end-game sets, unique engravings, and access to a specialized progression tree. Ubisoft notes that the highest difficulty tiers hide secret rewards and exclusive unlocks—some of which will feel like a nostalgic nod to longtime fans—that will never be available for purchase.

The update also delivers various quality-of-life enhancements, including rebalanced damage for shurikens and a more intuitive navigation system for Forge engraving menus.

The free trial library includes a vast selection of hits, such as:

Another highlight is Star Wars Outlaws, a polarizing open-world heist adventure. While some found the gameplay loop repetitive, others praised it as the definitive “scoundrel simulator” that fans have wanted for years. This trial is the perfect chance to see which side of the argument you land on.

If you enjoy your time during the trial, you can retain your progression by opting for a subscription. While it functions differently than Game Pass, the Premium tier—priced at $17.99/month—offers day-one access to new releases, discounts on in-game currency, and a rotating selection of third-party titles, including the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro trilogies, as well as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. For those looking for a budget option, the $7.99/month Classics tier provides access to the core Ubisoft catalog on PC, though it excludes DLC.
