Tyler, the Creator gave an impassioned performance of his album cut “CORSO” at a pastel-shaded kid’s birthday party alongside collaborator DJ Drama for the track’s music video, released Tuesday (June 29).
In a continuation of his last video for the YoungBoy Never Broke Again and Ty Dolla $ign-assisted “WUSYANAME,” Tyler delivers the next chapter of his Call Me If You Get Lost story, featuring characters from the last visual and a cohesive vintage aesthetic, leaning into the theatrical feel of the project itself.
The video, directed by Tyler under his pseudonym “Wolf Haley,” shows two characters from the “WUSYANAME” video who appeared briefly on bikes stopped outside a building due to a flat tire. As one boy lifts himself onto a dumpster and peeks into the building window, he spots Tyler at a drab birthday party. Donning animal print, an oversize pearl necklace, and his signature loafers and ushanka hat, the multi-hyphenate hops from table to table, spitting cocky, confrontational rhymes (“In the end, she picked him, I hope when they f—in’/She still thinkin’ of me ’cause I’m that perfect”), while the crowd looks on in bewilderment.
Meanwhile, DJ Drama is spinning the track and trickling in his signature ad libs, visibly entertained by Tyler’s spontaneous performance. In the end, Tyler is teared-up on the floor with a napkin in hand, as the song comes to an abrupt end. The children are crowded around him with straight faces, and Tyler is met with kind words from a friend who tells him, “You’re an inspiration to these kids. They don’t even know that right now.”
The video closes out with the two boys outside of the building being confronted by an elderly man, leading viewers to believe that the saga will continue.
Tyler performed “LUMBERJACK,” the project’s single, at the 2021 BET Awards, and has been releasing shortened versions of his album cuts surrounding the release. Watch the video below.
