Two Pallets of GeForce RTX 5090 Graphics Cards Disappear at Brazilian Airport, Causing Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars in Losses
Two pallets of Zotac GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards, worth about $470,000, have gone missing in Brazil. The distributor says it cannot get an explanation of what happened to the shipment.
Oderço, a Brazilian company that has worked in the electronics market for 38 years, reported the disappearance at Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo. According to the distributor, the cargo arrived at the airport and then vanished without a trace. Its attempts to find out what happened produced no results, so the company turned to social media.
The missing hardware is valued at 2.5 million Brazilian reals, or $470,000. The exact number of graphics cards is unknown, although it could be at least several dozen units. The stated amount matches the purchase cost of the shipment.
The incident comes amid availability problems with the RTX 5090, and some stores have sold out of the cards entirely. There were reports that flagship models might be cut back in favor of AI accelerators, but NVIDIA denied those rumors.

Expensive PC components are increasingly becoming targets for criminals. Earlier cases included stolen packages, sales fraud, and returned devices with key components missing. The disappearance of two full pallets at one of Brazil’s largest airports stands out for its scale.
