Treyarch Warns Black Ops 7 Will Look Very Bad on PS4 and Xbox One
The studio pointed out that a large number of players still use previous-generation consoles.
In comments to reporters, Treyarch warned that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will look significantly worse on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
We still believe we can ship the game while fully realizing the intended gameplay. Naturally, the visual presentation will fall short of our ambitions.
Miller added that the title was developed initially for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with work to optimize for legacy platforms coming afterward. The team refused to compromise core systems for PS4 and Xbox One — if a feature couldn’t run on last-gen hardware, it was simply disabled.
We don’t design new features with the old generation in mind. We knew we wanted to include a Theater Mode, but it’s not supported on legacy consoles. That wasn’t a reason to drop the feature — we simply turned it off for last-gen systems.
