Travis Barker Reacts to Mark Hoppus’ Cancer Diagnosis: ‘I Will be With Him Every Step of the Way’

Mark Hoppus is having the fight of his life, and millions of friends, fans, and bandmates are right behind him.

The Blink-182 star is three months into treatment for cancer, he explained in a post on Wednesday.

“It sucks and I’m scared,” he says of his diagnosis, “and at the same time I’m blessed with incredible doctors and family and friends to get me through this. I still have months of treatment ahead of me but I’m trying to remain hopeful and positive.”

It’s unclear what type of cancer Hoppus is battling, though the 49-year-old rocker is staying upbeat. “Can’t wait to be cancer free and see you all at a concert in the near future,” he added. “Love to you all.”

The outpouring of support should help him stay on track.

Bandmate Travis Barker told E! News, “Mark is my brother and I love and support him. I will be with him every step of the way on stage and off and can’t wait for us to play together again soon.”

Earlier in the day, Hoppus triggered alarm bells with a post, which he swiftly deleted, of himself receiving chemotherapy in a hospital room. “Yes hello. One cancer treatment, please,” reads the caption.

Hoppus’ name trended as worried supporters turned to social media to rally behind the ailing musician.
