The track list for the second posthumous album from late rapper Pop Smoke, Faith, has been revealed in a most unusual way. The 21-track collection from the MC born Bashar Barakah Jackson will drop on Victor Victor Worldwide/Republic Records on Friday (July 16) and an interactive website popped up this week that allows fans to scratch off virtual lottery tickets to reveal the track titles.
And while the expected features haven’t materialized yet, fans can look forward to hearing such songs as “30,” “Bout a Million,” “Manslaughter” and “Try It.” Pop Smoke’s manager, Steven Victor, confirmed the album title over the weekend and posted its intense, close-up pic of the rapper on Tuesday at the end of a video featuring some career highlights for the artist who was murdered during a home invasion in Feb. 2020.
Released on July 3, 2020, Pop Smoke’s first studio album, Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and has charted for 52 weeks. It also gained international success, hitting No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums tally, where it charted for 45 weeks. Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon also charted in Greece, Germany, Australia and Italy.
Ahead of his death, Smoke starred in Eddie Huang’s drama film Boogie and he also appears on Migos’ latest album, Culture III, Polo G’s Hall of Fame and the film soundtrack for Fast and Furious 9. During the 2021 Billboard Music Awards in May, Pop won the Top Billboard 200 Album award in recognition of his tremendous work. Last year, Smoke was nominated for a Grammy for best rap performance for his smash hit song “Dior.”
Shoot For the Stars earned the title of the longest-running No. 1 hip-hop/R&B album since 1990 earlier this year and it has moved more than seven million units to date.
