Two years after she got the planet shuffling with “Dance Monkey,” Tones And I drops her maiden full-length album, Welcome to the Madhouse.
Spanning 14 tracks, Madhouse contains the previously-released numbers “Won’t Sleep,” “Child’s Play,” “Cloudy Day” and “Fly Away,” which is soaring on the U.K. singles chart for Tones’ second Top 40 hit in that country.
Madhouse is the followup to Tones’ 2019 EP The Kids Are Coming, which featured the all-conquering “Dance Monkey.”
The one-time busker turned global hitmaker was this week confirmed as the world’s leading songwriter for 2020, thanks to “Dance Monkey,” which went to No. 1 on charts in 30 territories, has racked up multiple-billion streams and is now the third most-played song on Spotify.
Along the way, “Dance Monkey” smashed the Australian chart record by logging 24 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1, and it ruled the U.K. chart for 11 weeks, an historic mark for a female solo artist.
Earlier this week, Tones and a supporting choir stopped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert for a release-day warmup performance of “Cloudy Day.”
