Acclaimed director Apichatpong Weerasethakul is preparing a new film titled Jengira’s Magnificent Dream, with actress Jenjira Pongpas — the director’s muse who appeared in Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, the Palme d’Or winner at Cannes in 2010 — cast in the lead role.
The film centers on a grief-stricken widow who travels to the Sigiriya plateau to scatter her late husband’s ashes. Weerasethakul is expected to once more delve into a profound spiritual journey that links different cultures and eras.
Tilda Swinton will appear in a supporting role; she recently collaborated with Weerasethakul on the film Memoria.
