Wicked: For Good (2025): cast, story, and where to watch

Wicked: For Good is the concluding half of the two-film adaptation of the Broadway musical about the witches of Oz. Jon M. Chu’s film opened in US theaters on November 21, 2025 and continues directly from 2024’s Wicked. Watching the first movie beforehand is recommended because this chapter resolves the choices and relationships established there.

Spoiler-free story

Elphaba has been branded the Wicked Witch of the West and lives in exile in the forests of Oz. She continues her campaign for the freedom of the Animals and tries to expose the truth about the Wizard. Glinda, meanwhile, has become the public face of goodness in Emerald City and works alongside Madame Morrible, even as the loss of her friendship with Elphaba weighs on her.

Glinda’s planned wedding to Fiyero becomes a major public event, but the government’s campaign, growing fear across Oz, and the consequences of earlier decisions draw the former friends toward one another again. The movie adapts the second act of the stage musical and connects it to familiar elements of The Wizard of Oz. The official synopsis does not disclose the characters’ final outcomes.

Cast and filmmakers

Cynthia Erivo returns as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda. Jonathan Bailey plays Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh is Madame Morrible, Jeff Goldblum is the Wizard, Ethan Slater is Boq, and Marissa Bode is Nessarose. Jon M. Chu directed from a screenplay by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox. The story comes from the stage musical by Stephen Schwartz and Holzman, itself based on Gregory Maguire’s novel.

The film runs for 137 minutes. In addition to songs from the second act of the stage production, it includes two new Stephen Schwartz numbers written for the screen: No Place Like Home for Elphaba and The Girl in the Bubble for Glinda.

Release and streaming

Wicked: For Good became available for digital purchase and rental on December 30, 2025, with physical editions following in January 2026. Peacock’s official guide says both Wicked movies have been streaming there since May 21, 2026. Availability, audio tracks, subtitles, and subscription requirements vary by country, so viewers should confirm the local catalog before paying. Search results may also surface uploads that do not identify a licensed distributor.
