The Witcher 3 Remaster Tops 2026 Game Rankings

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered achieved a score of 94% on Metacritic, making it the highest-rated game of 2026.

Early reviews for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered indicate that CD Projekt RED successfully updated Geralt’s adventure. Critics particularly praise the scale of the changes, including improved graphics, reworked lighting, new textures, denser foliage, and path tracing on capable PCs that noticeably enhances familiar locations.

The gameplay changes have also received positive marks. Geralt moves and reacts more smoothly, combat is more responsive, the camera behaves better during fights, and Roach’s controls were improved. Reviewers separately highlight the reworked skill tree, transmogrification, updated user interface, photo mode, and mod support.

At the same time, the foundation of the combat system remains largely unchanged, meaning the remaster is unlikely to win over anyone who disliked the original game’s battles. Critics also note occasional issues with the camera and user interface, minor bugs, and high system requirements for the PC version with path tracing enabled.

Only a limited number of reviews have been published so far, so the average score may change. Even so, the remaster already leads the rankings for the highest-rated games of 2026.
