British actress Aimee Lou Wood, acclaimed for her performances in The White Lotus and Sex Education, is slated to headline a fresh television reimagining of Charlotte Brontë’s literary masterpiece, Jane Eyre. The casting was first reported by Deadline.

Originally set in late 18th-century England, the classic narrative centers on an orphaned young woman’s arduous journey toward emotional fulfillment and personal autonomy. This latest iteration is being penned by Miriam Battye, known for her sharp writing on Succession, with the renowned studio Working Title overseeing the production.

Wood joins an illustrious lineage of performers who have stepped into the iconic title role, including Mia Wasikowska (2011), Charlotte Gainsbourg (1996), Ruth Wilson (2006), and Joan Fontaine (1943). The actress is currently busy filming a biopic centered on The Beatles. Additionally, she is set to appear this year in the film The Idiots, where she portrays Anna Snitkina, the wife of legendary novelist Fyodor Dostoevsky.
