The Weeknd’s ‘Take My Breath’ Aiming for U.K. Top 10 Debut

The Weeknd‘s new era is set to make a splash on the Official U.K. Singles Chart.

The Canadian R&B star’s “Take My Breath” opens at No. 9 on the First Look chart, which ranks the most popular songs in the early stage of the U.K. chart week.

Produced by Max Martin, “Take My Breath” is on target for the week’s top debut and it could snag The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) his 12th UK Top 10 single.

After teasing his musical follow-up to the hit album After Hours at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards, The Weeknd last week promised, “The Dawn Is Coming.” That dawn broke on Friday, with the release of “Take My Breath”.

Close behind on the chart blast is KSI’s new Lil Wayne collaboration, “Lose,” new at No. 10. If it keeps its momentum, it’ll give KSI his eighth Top 10 single and Wayne his seventh and first since his assist on Chris Brown’s 2014 release “Loyal.”

At the pointy end of the chart is Ed Sheeran’s “Bad Habits,” which is tracking for a seventh consecutive week at No. 1, while “Stay” by The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber stays at No. 2.

The Official U.K. Singles Chart is published late Friday, local time.
