Searchlight Pictures is slated to bring the musical drama “The Testament of Anne Lee” to digital platforms on March 10, according to a report by Variety.
The film chronicles the life of Ann Lee (portrayed by Amanda Seyfried), the visionary leader behind the Shaker religious movement. Emerging in the late 18th century, the sect became famous for their fervent, ecstatic dancing rituals performed during worship services.
Written and directed by Mona Fastvold (known for The World to Come and The Brutalist), “The Testament” made its world premiere in the main competition at the Venice Film Festival. The project has received significant critical acclaim, currently holding an 86% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while Seyfried’s performance earned her a Golden Globe nomination.
