The Pact of the Wolves: a cinema re-release in 4K and in a long version, SoulCalibur fans will love

Twenty-one years. It has already been more than 21 years since The Pact of the Wolves was released in cinemas. It was January 2001, unlimited cinema cards had recently been in force and Christophe Gans offered us his version of the tale of the Beast of Gevaudan, against a backdrop of action scenes that are still as cult today. We are obviously talking about this famous opening scene where the character of Samuel Bihan and that of Mark Dacascos intervened in the pouring and filthy rain to save an old man and a young woman taken to task by poorly educated peasants. Between this sublimely choreographed ballet and the acrobatics of Mark Dacascos, this sequence has remained as strong as ever in 2022. Precisely, Metropolitan Films has decided to bring the film back to the cinema in its long version and above all restored 4K from next June 10. Obviously, knowing Christophe Gans, we imagine that it was he who supervised this reissue which will also be screened at the Cannes Film Festival in a few weeks. It will be Thursday, May 19 at 9:30 p.m. at the Cinéma de la plage in the presence of Christophe Gans and Samuel Le Bihan. In the meantime, let’s replay the opening sequence and take a look at the “new” poster.
