The Monkees have introduced their first vacation album, Rolling Stone studies. It’s known as Christmas Party and arrives October 12. The 13-track file options contributions from Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, R.E.M.’s Peter Buck, XTC’s Andy Partridge, and The Minus 5’s Scott McCaughey, and novelist Michael Chabon. Though Christmas Party consists largely of vocals from the Monkees’ Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork, it additionally contains previous recordings of the late Davy Jones. It was produced by Fountains of Wayne’s Adam Schlesinger.
The vacation album is a mixture of new tracks (just like the Cuomo-written “What Would Santa Do”), Christmas requirements, and covers comparable to Big Star’s “Jesus Christ,” Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime,” and “Merry Christmas, Baby.” See the tracklist beneath.
The Monkees’ final album was 2016’s Good Times!, which featured tracks written by Cuomo, Noel Gallagher, Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard, and others. Since then, Nesmith has made his case for vaporwave.
