“Brightside,” the latest single from The Lumineers, jumps to No. 1 on Billboard‘s Adult Alternative Airplay chart dated Nov. 13.
The song is the act’s sixth Adult Alternative Airplay leader and first since a pair of No. 1s, “Gloria” and “Life in the City,” in 2019. The Lumineers previously led with “Ho Hey” in 2012, followed by “Stubborn Love” (2013) and “Ophelia” (2016).
Dating to their first week atop Adult Alternative Airplay (June 30, 2012), The Lumineers boast the most No. 1s among all acts in that span. The Black Keys, Cage the Elephant and Nathaniel Rateliff (solo and with The Night Sweats) follow with five each in that stretch.
“Brightside” also rises 6-3 on Alternative Airplay. On the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, it lifts 4-3 with 3.9 million audience impressions, up 9%, according to MRC Data.
The song also spends a seventh week on the multi-metric Hot Rock & Alternative Songs survey, bulleting at No. 33 (after reaching No. 25) with 652,000 U.S. streams in the Oct. 29-Nov. 4 tracking frame, in addition to its radio airplay.
“Brightside” is the title track lead single from The Lumineers’ fourth studio album, due Jan. 14, 2022. Their previous LP, III, debuted as their third No. 1 on the Top Rock Albums and Americana/Folk Albums charts in September 2019.
