The Last of Us: that's it, production of the HBO series is underway

It has been known for some time that HBO has teamed up with Sony for the making of a TV series The Last of Us: the project will follow the events of the first game and, frankly, there is a good chance that the result is convincing. Why ? First of all because Naughty Dog is heavily involved in the project: we will find the Argentinian Gustavo Santaollala in the composition and Neil Druckmann, director of The Last of Us Part. II, will be associated with Craig Mazin for production and screenplay. The latter is none other than the man behind the story of Chernobyl, the acclaimed HBO series released in 2019.

Moreover, we will also find Carolyn Strauss, who will be returning to her role as executive producer on Chernobyl, along with Evan Wells of Naughty Dog. Finally, the very first episode of The Last of Us series will be directed by Johan Renck, director who has already given birth to several episodes of Breaking Bad, Vikings, The Walking Dead and, once again, Chernobyl. In short, there are people and the information of the day to remember is that HBO has finally given the green light to pass the second.

In other words, the production is finally underway: for the moment, we still do not know who will play the role of Joël or Elijah but no doubt that we should know all this in the coming months. Many hopes – and, de facto, fears – are based on this adaptation of a video game monument, whose video game writing had proven to be grandiose. Having a film series of the same caliber will not be easy …
