Last week, The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber teamed up for the ultra-poppy new song “Stay” — which is just the latest in a series of big looks for the Australian musician.
Back in May, Miley Cyrus hopped on LAROI’s “Without You” remix and invited the 17-year-old to perform with her on Saturday Night Live. Since then, “Without You” has hit the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, so far peaking at No. 8. Now, he and Bieber are proving to be a potent combination on the frenetic “Stay,” which was released Friday along with an eye-popping new video.
Even before LAROI got huge pop co-signs from Cyrus and Bieber, he had a series of collabs with hip-hop hitmakers, including Polo G, Lil Durk, YoungBoy Never Broke Again and the late Juice WRLD.
So what does the future hold for the genre-fluid Kid LAROI? Could he be the next teen pop phenom, à la Bieber? Or maybe he’ll score a Grammy nomination for best new artist? On the latest episode of the Billboard Pop Shop Podcast, we talk about all that and more.
Also on the show, we’ve got chart news on Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour skipping back to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart for a third nonconsecutive week, how BTS’ “Butter” keeps on churning at No. 1 on the Hot 100, and how Lil Nas X’s “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” hits No. 1 on the Pop Airplay chart for the first time.
