The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber’s ‘Stay’ Bows at No. 1 In Australia

The Kid Laroi

The Kid has done it again.

Teenage Australian hip-hop artist The Kid Laroi bags a second No. 1 single in his homeland, this time with “Stay” (Columbia/Sony), his latest collaboration with Justin Bieber. “Stay” debuts at No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart, ahead of two former leaders, Ed Sheeran’s “Bad Habits” (Atlantic/Warner) and Olivia Rodrigo’s “Good 4 U” (Interscope/Universal), respectively.

Earlier this year, Laroi led the national chart in May with “Without You,” which this week rises 13-10, and his mixtape F*ck Love hit No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, making the Kid the youngest solo Aussie artist to do so.

It’s the fifth leader for Bieber, after “What Do You Mean?” and “Love Yourself” (both in 2015), “I Don’t Care” with Ed Sheeran (2019) and “Peaches” (2021).

“Stay” will appear on Laroi’s forthcoming mixtape F**k Love 3 EP, due out next Friday (July 23).

Further down the list, BTS bag a fourth Top 10 singles in Australia as “Permission to Dance” (Big Hit/Orchard) bows at No. 6, while the K-pop phenom’s previous release “Butter” lifts 37-26.

Billie Eilish has another Top 20 to her name as “NDA” (Interscope/Universal) opens at No. 16. The California star’s latest release is lifted from her forthcoming sophomore album Happier Than Ever, due out July 30.

“NDA” is the fifth track from the album to impact the ARIA Singles Chart, including Top 10s “My Future,” “Therefore I Am” and “Your Power.”

Meanwhile, Post Malone marks his first new chart entry in almost two years as “Motley Crew” debuts at No. 22.

Over on the national albums chart, Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour (Interscope/Universal) returns to the summit, 2-1, for a seventh non-consecutive week at No. 1.

The highest debut this week belongs to Brisbane alternative rock trio DZ Deathrays, as Positive Rising: Part 2 (I Oh You/Universal) starts at No. 4. It’s the week’s best selling vinyl, and the trio’s second Top 10 appearance on the ARIA Albums Chart, following 2018’s Bloody Lovely, which peaked atNo. 4.

Finally, punk veterans the Cosmic Psychos take out just their second career Top 50 entry with Mountain of Piss (Independent), their eleventh album. It’s new at No. 19 for the Melbourne band’s highest-charting effort.
