The Jesus Lizard Cancels 2025 Tour Dates Due to ‘Serious Health Incident’
The Jesus Lizard Cancel 2025 Tour Following Serious Health Incident

Legendary Austin noise-rock outfit The Jesus Lizard have announced the cancellation of their entire 2025 tour after a band member experienced a serious health setback.
In an Instagram post on August 4, the group revealed that their October dates in New Zealand, Australia and Japan—as well as their November U.S. shows—will no longer proceed as planned.
“Based on medical counsel following a significant health event affecting one of our members, we believe this precautionary hiatus is imperative,” the band wrote.
The Jesus Lizard offered sincere apologies to disappointed fans, assuring everyone that the affected member’s prognosis is strong and expressing gratitude for their continued support.
All ticket holders will receive full refunds, as the band is currently unable to schedule replacement dates.
This Oceania leg would have marked the band’s first return to Australia and New Zealand since 1998, while the Japan dates were set to be their first performances there since 1996.
Formed in 1987, The Jesus Lizard began with a string of singles and EPs on Touch and Go before releasing four studio albums for the label, including Goat (1991) and Liar (1992).
After signing with Capitol Records in 1995, they issued two more albums before disbanding in 1999. A brief reunion in 2008 was followed by a full-scale reformation in 2017, culminating in Rack—their first album in 26 years—in 2024.
Although widespread chart success largely eluded them—1996’s “Shot” peaked at No. 28 on Billboard’s Heatseekers—their influence on the American underground rock scene is undeniable, with Nirvana among their admirers.
Having significantly expanded their live schedule in 2024 and early 2025, completing U.S., U.K. and European tours, the band had been riding a wave of renewed momentum prior to this hiatus.
