It may be 2020, but games developed only on “next gen” consoles such as the PS5 and Xbox Series X are extremely rare. Suddenly, when one of them points the tip of his nose, we are necessarily very attentive. This is the case with The Chant, a game published by Prime Matter and the young independent studio Brass Token, which wants to immerse us in psychedelic horror. Playable in third-person view, The Chant will take us through the adventures of Jess Briars, a woman who has decided to go on a spiritual retreat in the middle of an isolated island and who will drag her into her deepest anxieties. She will indeed have to survive against prismatic creatures, released after a ritual chant has gone wrong, by opening a portal to a nightmarish dimension called “The Darkness”.
In this dimension that feeds only on negative energy, you will have to try to remain aware of what is happening and not give in to fear. If this is a first trailer without gameplay, The Chant should reveal more soon, the release being scheduled for this fall on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
