A fortnight after his passing, Ozzy Osbourne’s official cause of death has been disclosed. A death certificate lodged in London by his daughter, Aimée Osbourne, attributes his demise to an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest precipitated by an acute myocardial infarction, underpinned by coronary artery disease. The document also confirmed that the rock icon had been contending with Parkinson’s disease.

Specifically, the certificate enumerates: (a) out-of-hospital cardiac arrest; (b) acute myocardial infarction; and (c) coronary artery disease, with Parkinson’s disease accompanied by autonomic dysfunction cited as a joint contributing factor.

Osbourne died on July 22 at his residence near Chalfont St. Giles, Buckinghamshire. That day, an air ambulance arrived to administer advanced critical care before transporting him approximately eight miles to Harefield Hospital in Uxbridge, where medics remained on scene for about an hour.

Initially, the family withheld details of his passing, though Osbourne had publicly chronicled his battles with Parkinson’s and the spinal and neck injuries that necessitated multiple surgeries. Despite his mobility challenges, he returned to the stage for what was promoted as his and Black Sabbath’s final performance on July 5 at Birmingham’s Villa Park stadium.

The star-studded Back to the Beginning benefit concert, which raised over $190 million for charity, featured him performing five solo classics and four Sabbath anthems from a custom black throne. In interviews leading up to the event, he emphasized his determination to deliver his best performance despite being unable to stand.

Birmingham residents lined the streets on July 30 to pay their respects during a public procession, followed by a private family interment in the city.
