Anbernic may soon reveal a new foldable, dual-screen handheld designed to compete with the AYN Thor and the Ayaneo Pocket DS. A clip showing the device has surfaced online, though it could be a forgery.
Rumors have been circulating for quite some time that Anbernic is working on a foldable, dual-screen handheld. A teaser trailer showcasing a device like this has appeared online today.
It’s possible Anbernic intentionally leaked the clip to build anticipation, or that the video was generated by an AI—meaning the “teaser” may simply be a user-made fake.
The unit, referred to by Retro Handhelds as the Anbernic RG DS, bears a strong resemblance to the Nintendo DS Lite/DSi. It appears to include two analog sticks positioned beneath the D-pad and A/B/X/Y buttons, matching-size displays, dual speakers, L1/L2/R1/R2 shoulder triggers, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
People have also circulated a photo of the purported console that features a Google Gemini watermark, which raises the possibility the image was produced by artificial intelligence.
For now, details such as the Anbernic RG DS’s operating system, hardware specifications, price, and release date remain unknown.
