Target Opens Pre-Orders for Taylor Swift’s Exclusive “Life of a Showgirl” CD

As of September 7, avid fans can pre-order one of three exclusive CD editions of Taylor Swift’s forthcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, through Target’s online store. These editions will ship in time for the album’s October 3 release, or shortly thereafter.

Each CD comes packaged with a unique, double-sided folded poster measuring 19″ × 9.5″, exclusive to that edition.

The three variants showcase alternate cover art—It’s Frightening, It’s Rapturous, and It’s Beautiful—all originally released in a limited run on Taylor’s official webstore (paired with collectible photo cards and jewelry instead of posters).

On October 3 at local midnight, select Target stores nationwide will also stock these exclusive CDs in person. A state-by-state list of participating locations can be found on Target’s store locator.

In addition to the three Target editions and four webstore-exclusive CD variants, Swift’s merch site offered three limited-edition vinyl sets—Shiny Bug, Baby, That’s Show Business, and Tiny Bubbles in Champagne—each pressed on two-tone colored discs. These vinyl editions sold out rapidly, with announcements made via Swift’s email list.

Taylor first revealed The Life of a Showgirl—including its 12-track lineup, cover art, and October 3 release date—on August 12 during an episode of New Heights, the podcast hosted by fiancé Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce.

She reunited with veteran producers Max Martin and Shellback during the European leg of The Eras Tour, aiming to craft melodies “so irresistibly catchy, they almost feel infuriating.” The trio’s collaboration dates back to the Red era, continuing through the smash albums 1989 and Reputation.

The Life of a Showgirl follows Swift’s 2024 release, The Tortured Poets Department, which spent 17 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
