Dotemu has announced an adaptation of its upcoming arcade beat ’em up ahead of the game’s release.

Animation studio Supamonks and publisher Dotemu have confirmed production has begun on an animated series based on Absolum — a fantasy beat ’em up slated to launch on October 9 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

The series is being produced by Supamonks, the team responsible not only for the game’s visual direction but also for all of its animation. According to studio head Julien Bagnol-Roua, turning the game world into a series was a natural evolution of their work.

“We are particularly thrilled to bring this animated series to life, since Supamonks has been involved with Absolum from day one. Our teams helped shape the universe, and the chance to adapt it into an animated show feels like a natural and exhilarating next step. It’s a rare opportunity to add another dimension to a world we already know well.”

Dotemu’s CEO Cyril Imbert also highlighted the project’s significance.

“Absolum is the first original title in our catalogue, and it has received meticulous attention at every stage of development. With its rich lore, distinctive visual identity, and compelling narrative, we believe it has strong potential to become a standout series — one we’d be eager to watch ourselves. Supamonks’ craftsmanship and their involvement in the game’s art direction make them the perfect partner for this ambitious undertaking.”

Further information, including a release date for the animated series, has not been revealed.
