Following the autumn release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, fans can look forward to the second season of Delicious in Dungeon, scheduled for October 2027. The debut season, which premiered on Netflix in 2024, earned widespread acclaim for its charming blend of tabletop-inspired exploration, cozy atmosphere, and delightful character dynamics.
Trigger officially teased the second season’s production via social media, confirming that the story will continue to follow the journey of the original cast.
While their more recent streaming hits have dominated the conversation, Studio Trigger’s reputation was built on the foundation of high-octane classics like Kill la Kill and the vibrant feature film Promare. Both were spearheaded by the visionary team of director Hiroyuki Imaishi and writer Kazuki Nakashima. After a period of focusing on individual ventures, the duo has confirmed at Anime Expo that they are officially collaborating on an all-new project.
Details regarding this mysterious endeavor remain scarce. However, in a shared update, the pair revealed that the screenplay is already finalized, and Imaishi is currently deep into the storyboard phase. They’ve described the project as a career-defining effort, meant to encapsulate the culmination of their years of collaborative storytelling.
Although a release date for the Imaishi-Nakashima project has yet to be announced, the studio’s pipeline remains packed, with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 arriving this fall and the dungeon-crawling escapades of Delicious in Dungeon returning in late 2027.
