“Stranger Things” Director Shawn Levy Leaves Netflix for Disney

American filmmaker Shawn Levy, renowned for his work on Stranger Things and Deadpool & Wolverine, has entered into a new agreement with Disney. This marks a shift for the director, who had maintained a productive partnership with Netflix since 2017.

Beyond his contributions to the Deadpool franchise, Levy has collaborated with Disney on Starfighter and has begun development on Marvel’s Ghost Rider. Both projects are set to star Ryan Gosling in the lead roles.

Levy’s impressive filmography includes hits such as the Night at the Museum series, The Adam Project, and Free Guy—the latter featuring Ryan Reynolds—as well as the limited series All the Light We Cannot See. His production credits also boast acclaimed titles like Arrival and the recent A24 feature The Backrooms.
