Following the initial reveal during September’s Nintendo Direct, developer ConcernedApe has officially released the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 update for Stardew Valley. In a festive surprise, the update debuted on Christmas Day and is available as a free entitlement for anyone who currently owns the game on the Switch platform.
For newcomers, the Stardew Valley Switch 2 Edition is priced at $14.99. Current players can transition to the enhanced version by downloading the “Upgrade Pack” directly from the Nintendo eShop. This hardware-specific iteration introduces several significant quality-of-life improvements, including native mouse control support, four-player local split-screen co-op, and expanded online multiplayer that now supports up to eight players. Additionally, leveraging the Switch 2’s Game Share feature, a single copy of the game is all that’s required to host a four-player local session with friends.
Full details regarding the technical specifications and features can be found on the official Nintendo eShop page.
