Square Enix Announces New Dissidia Final Fantasy for Mobile Devices

Square Enix is preparing to bring Dissidia Final Fantasy back to smartphones nearly two years after Opera Omnia’s closure.

Square Enix has announced a new Dissidia Final Fantasy title in development for iOS and Android. For now the project is represented only by an official website, which describes the game as “team battles against bosses in arenas” — wording that hints at a turn-based or semi-automated format, similar to Honkai: Star Rail or traditional JRPGs.

The site features a banner with silhouetted heroes, among whom you can discern Cloud from Final Fantasy VII and Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII. Ten characters appear in total, most of them still unidentified. Alongside the banner, the page showcases locations inspired by real urban landscapes.

Details remain scarce for now, but Square Enix will hold a full presentation on October 14, 2025 at 13:00 Moscow time, where the first footage and additional information will be revealed.

This new Dissidia won’t be the franchise’s first mobile outing. Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia launched in Japan in 2017 and arrived in the West a year later, offering hero-collection mechanics and turn-based battles. The project ran for over six years before shutting down in February 2024. It’s still unknown whether the upcoming mobile Dissidia will expand on Opera Omnia’s ideas or pursue a completely different direction.

The game’s showcase will be available on October 14, 2025 via this link or in the player below.
