SoundExchange CEO Michael Huppe, iconic artist Dionne Warwick and Rep. Ted Deutch (D-FL) are among the big names added to the lineup for A2IM Indie Week 2021.
Huppe is tapped as keynote speaker for next month’s event, for a session presented as a fireside chat with Digiday senior editor Max Willens, drilling down into the future of the music industry.
Separately, Warwick and Deutch will join Huppe for a panel discussion on the movement for a performance right for recordings played on AM/FM radio, moderated by White House reporter for The Hill, Alex Gangitano.
“It is a dynamic time in the world of music marked by continued transformation,” said Huppe. “It is my honor to kick off A2IM Indie Week and open up what promises to be a week of meaningful discussion to help shape the future of our industry and inspire the Indie community and beyond.”
Organized by the American Association of Independent Music, this year’s event will be held virtually for the second successive year, from June 14 – 17.
The conversations will explore many of the issues important to today’s music professionals, from independent music advocacy, digital marketing, exporting, steaming, NFTs and touring post-COVID.

A2IM Indie Week 2021 culminates with the 10th anniversary of the A2IM Libera Awards on its final day. As previously reported, soul and gospel great Mavis Staples is slated to receive the independent icon award on the night. Performers include Grammy-nominated rock and soul duo Black Pumas, Grammy-winning hip-hop artist Lecrae, 2021 Brit Award winner Arlo Parks, three-time Grammy-winner Fantastic Negrito, Grammy nominated singer Lido Pimienta, Malaysian singer-songwriter Yuna, and the Memphis-based Stax Music Academy Rhythm Section.
