A creator who made content about The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for many years.
Shirley Carey, better known in the community as “Skyrim Grandma,” produced videos centered on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for years. She recently announced she will stop creating new videos for Bethesda’s game.
The 89-year-old creator said she’s grown tired of making Skyrim videos and no longer finds them enjoyable. She also pointed to a shift in her audience — much of her viewership now seems to be very young children.
Comments on her uploads are largely limited to greetings or declarations of affection, while the actual content receives little discussion — not the kind of engagement she intended to spend her time producing and publishing.
Shirley doesn’t plan to end her YouTube career completely at the moment, but it’s unclear whether she’ll ever return with another Skyrim video (she has paused uploads before and later resumed creating content).
