SKE48 Debuts at No. 1 as back number Rises to No. 2 on Japan Hot 100

SKE48’s “Ano koro no kimi wo mitsuketa” debuts at No. 1 on this week’s Billboard Japan Hot 100, dated Aug. 30 to Sept. 5. The Nagoya-based girl group’s 28th single was powered by physical sales, selling 234,600 copies in its first week to come in at No. 1 for the metric, while also coming in at No. 16 for Twitter, No. 19 for look-ups, and No. 72 for radio airplay.

The new single sold about 38,000 more copies than its predecessor, “Koi ochi Flag” (196,556 first-week sales), which shows the girls have been steadily expanding their core fanbase. back number’s “Suiheisen” (“Horizon”) continues to edge up the chart, rising a notch to No. 2 on the Japan Hot 100 this week after climbing 4-3 the week before. While the track drops to No. 4 for downloads after reaching the top last week, it overtakes BTS’ “Permission to Dance” (seven-week streaming champ), ruling the metric for the first time with 8,327,242 weekly streams and powering the track up the Japan Hot 100.
