Silent Hill Player Sells Rare Gift From Developers at Auction for Over $2,000

A gift from the creators of Silent Hill: Townfall, manufactured in a run of just 100 units for selected bloggers, has appeared on eBay and already climbed in price from $325 to $2,225.

The item in question is a replica of Simon’s CRT television from Silent Hill: Townfall. All 100 units were distributed free of charge to specific content creators, making the item a collectible that is extremely difficult to find.

One recipient decided to part with the gift, listing it on eBay with a brief explanation from the seller: “I don’t need it.” Additional attention was drawn by the spelling of the franchise name as “Silenthill.”

The television was initially listed for $325, but collectors quickly drove the bid up to $2,225. With six days still remaining until the end of the auction, the final price could end up significantly higher.

The situation has sparked debate among players and other creators. Jesse Gomez of IGN wrote: “Make a social media post and then take the bag.” IAmLunarLizzy noted that many creators connected to Silent Hill would have found such a gift much more interesting.

The criticism stems primarily from the fact that a rare promotional gift produced in a run of only 100 units ended up on an auction site almost immediately.
