Several Major Black Ops 7 Collaborations Canceled Due to Player Backlash
Reports indicate Activision originally intended the new Call of Duty to adopt an atmosphere and aesthetic similar to that of Black Ops 6.
In a recent interview, Treyarch’s Senior Production Director Yale Miller explained the studio isn’t pursuing strictly “realistic” cosmetic items for Black Ops 7; instead, they want cosmetics that “make sense for Black Ops 7.” Because of that guiding principle, the team declined several major collaborations with well-known brands.
We had offers from big-name brands, but after discussing them we turned them down because they simply didn’t fit. Our aim is to create content we can, in good conscience, call part of Black Ops.
As an example, he pointed to the mannequin skins from the Nuketown Block Party event — not strictly realistic, but they “feel right for the game.”
