Seventeen are feeling the love.
On Wednesday night (June 23), the K-pop stars were the musical guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where they zoomed in for a high-energy performance of “Ready to Love,” the first track lifted from their latest mini-album Your Choice.
Dressed in (mostly) white, the lads cut their neatly-choreographed act on a glossy white dancefloor, surrounded by mounted digital cameras.
“Ready to Love” is lifted from Your Choice, Seventeen’s eight mini-album. The boy band has big ambitions. “The goal is to be on Billboard’s charts. We want to top the Billboard charts,” they said of Your Choice during a press conference last Friday, streamed from the Intercontinental hotel in Seoul, South Korea.
The outfit also demonstrated the boisterous reaction they’d give when they do hit No. 1. Cue hollering and hands flapping.
Seventeen typically release new music on a Monday, but Your Choice dropped last Friday (June 18). There’s a reason for that. They’re “targeting audiences in the U.S. and the Americas as well. And I think we’ll have more opportunities to perform on global shows,” they explained in the streaming event, which coincided with the release. “It’d be really nice to place our name on the main Billboard charts. That would be really great and we’d get energized.”
The performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live forms part of their strategy for a U.S. invasion, and they’re keen to take their show to other network and programs. Those plans will need to be redrawn after band members were exposed to COVID-19, forcing the group self-quarantine.
They won’t be trending the boards in the United States for a little while yet. Though judging by their late-night TV performance, none of the lads are feeling any ill-effects.
