Sequel to ‘The Social Network’ Gets Title and Release Date

Sony Pictures has announced the release date for the sequel to The Social Network. The film, titled The Social Reckoning, is scheduled to open in the United States on October 9, 2026.

Aaron Sorkin — who won an Academy Award for the first film — will both write and direct. Production is planned to take place in Vancouver from October through December.

The cast includes Oscar-winner Maika Madison (Anora), Jeremy Allen White (The Bear), Jeremy Strong (Succession) and comedian Bill Burr. The story centers on journalist Jeff Horowitz and his source, former Facebook* employee Frances Haugen (the social network is owned by Meta and has been designated extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

The original Social Network was released in 2010 and was directed by David Fincher; it grossed more than $220 million worldwide.
