The trailer for Hulu‘s new series Only Murders in the Building starring Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short dropped Tuesday (July 17), full to the brim with hilarious interactions between the unlikely trio.
They star as three random people brought together by fate when a fourth person, Tim Kono, walks in and out of the elevator they share, only to be murdered 12 minutes later. Gomez, Martin and Short’s characters resolve to figure out who murdered him while all sorts of hilarity ensues in the series that drops Aug. 31.
Investigating the murder in their apartment building isn’t the only project the characters take on, however; they also start up a true crime podcast to document what they find. Through this process, they each begin to realize that their new comrades might not be telling the whole truth.
Gomez hinted at the potential backstabbing between the trio in an Instagram caption, writing alongside the trailer, “We’re all neighbors here, but if I were you, I wouldn’t trust anyone.”
A memorable music moment from the trailer comes in the form of a timeless young-person-doesn’t-know-older-musician joke. Short’s character, Oliver, asserts, “There’s a very strong chance the killer is musical superstar Sting,” and Gomez’s character Mora replies “The guy from U2?” And yes, Sting himself does make a super quick appearance in the trailer.
