Sech has renewed his recording and publishing deal with Rich Music, the independent record label tells Billboard.
The Panamanian chart-topping and Latin Grammy-nominated artist, known for his anthemic reggaeton songs such as “Otro Trago” and “Relación,” signed the multi-million dollar deal last week in Miami.
Under the new agreement, Rich Music will continue to exclusively release Sech’s recordings worldwide, and publish his music under the company’s new publishing division, The Pencil Pushers.
“I’m happy because I’m amongst family and here’s where I began my career and I developed as an artist,” Sech said. “To continue this journey hand-in-hand with Rich Music is of great satisfaction, at both a personal and professional level.”
In April, Sech released his third studio album 42, which peaked at No. 7 on Billboard‘s Top Latin Albums chart (dated April 30). Overall, he’s placed four albums on that tally and 20 songs on Hot Latin Songs, including four top 10 hits.
“The last three years have been incredibly successful for Sech and the label, and I’m excited for what the near future will bring to all of us, including Rich Music and our publishing arm, The Pencil Pushers,” added Joshua Mendez, co-founder and COO of Rich Music.
Rich Music’s artist roster includes Sech, Dalex, Justin Quiles, and Dimelo Flow, among others. The Miami-based label — founded by father and son Richard and Joshua Mendez along with their family member Jim Aquino — was a three-time nominee at the 2020 Billboard Latin Music Awards including top Latin albums label of the year, top Latin albums imprint of the year, and Latin rhythm albums label of the year.
Most recently, Rich Music unveiled new corporate appointments that included the addition of Giovanna Pérez and David Alvarado to the team. Additionally, the record label announced two internal promotions including Aquino, former executive director, promoted to vice president of creative and Dave Hamberger who was former director, digital marketing & strategy and was promoted to vice president of marketing.
