Jurassic Park star Sam Neill completed filming for the live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda shortly before his death in July 2026.

According to Deadline, participation in the film was the final role for the actor, who passed away on July 13, 2026, at the age of 78.

Neill’s character remains unknown at this time. Dichen Lachman from Severance and Yvonne Strahovski, known for The Handmaid’s Tale, have also joined the cast. Lachman has been cast as Impa, and Strahovski will play an as-yet-unnamed queen.

Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason star in the adaptation as Link and Princess Zelda, respectively. Uli Latukefu from Young Rock portrays Ganondorf. The actor has signed a multi-picture deal, leaving open the possibility of his return in potential sequels.

Before the release of The Legend of Zelda, audiences will see Neill in Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, which opens on March 26, 2027. His final film arrives in theaters on April 30.
